Our Team
Lori Hauswirth
Lori became Executive Director of NTN in 2018, returning to her hometown of Marquette after 23 years in the Keweenaw. With a strong background in regional planning and nonprofit leadership—including six years as Executive Director of the Copper Harbor Trails Club in a dual role as Associate Region Director for the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) —Lori brings deep experience and passion to her role. She manages day-to-day operations, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising, all while championing the transformative power of trails. One of her proudest NTN moments was helping bring the Powell Township Recreation Area Trails project from concept to ribbon cutting.
Doug Pennala
Doug Pennala joined NTN as Facilities Manager in 2019 and is a key player in maintaining and shaping the trail experience. In his multi-faceted role, he keeps all types of equipment running, grooms trails, and continues to dig and build during the summer months. A longtime rider with a background in BMX and mountain biking, Doug’s proud to have a trail—Doug’s Back Nine—named after him. When he’s not sculpting dirt or hitting drops like the one on Huckstables, you might find him on stage as the guitarist for local rock band SPUN.
Andrew McCormick
Andrew “Andy” McCormick is NTN’s Head Groomer for the Forestville Ski Trails, known for his skill, consistency, and commitment to high-quality trail conditions all winter long. While not a skier himself, Andy understands exactly what makes a great ski experience and takes pride in delivering smooth, reliable grooming no matter the weather. His early mornings and sharp attention to detail are key to keeping the trails in top shape for the community. Andy’s work is trusted and appreciated by skiers across the region.
Linnea Bemis
Linnea Bemis recently joined NTN as the Volunteer Outreach Coordinator, bringing fresh energy to engaging community members in trail care and events. With a passion for mobilizing volunteers and fostering connections, she works to strengthen the bond between trail enthusiasts and the organization. Outside of work, Linnea can be found exploring the woods—whether volunteering, mountain biking, hiking, or enjoying NTN trails with friends. She’s thrilled to be helping build a more vibrant trail community across Marquette County.
Jeni Kilpela
Jeni joined the NTN staff in 2023 as Outreach Coordinator, bringing her background in communications, youth services, and community engagement to the world of nonprofit trail work. She manages development, communications, memberships, and event applications, while jumping in wherever needed to support the team. A passionate advocate for outdoor recreation—especially Nordic skiing—Jeni loves connecting with members and hearing their stories of trail adventure. Her favorite moments are those spent introducing her children to the trails she loves, especially during ski season, where every trail is her favorite.
Jeremiah Johnston
Jeremiah Johnston rejoined NTN as Trails Manager in 2024 bringing his passion for the woods, trail building, and dirt work to every project. With no two days ever the same, his favorite moments come from completing new trails and tackling big maintenance challenges. He’s especially proud of helping build the Carp River Falls trail, calling the views from that “office” unmatched. Though he claims to love all his trail “children” equally, recent favorites include Powell Peak, Raging River, FKA to Smiley, and the Benson freeride trails.
Kellie Barry-Angeli
Kellie Barry-Angeli has been with NTN since 2015 and serves as the behind-the-scenes force keeping things running smoothly. As Bookkeeper and office go-to, she manages the organization’s finances while helping keep paperwork in order. Known for her friendly presence and deep knowledge of NTN operations, Kellie brings both heart and humor to her work—often while wearing bunny slippers and taking coffee breaks with her registered therapy dog Pippa. She enjoys snowshoeing, birding, and forest bathing on trails like Forget Me Not and Fern Gully, and she’ll never forget her thrilling (and slightly humbling) ride over the handlebars on Southern Cross.
