Grooming Report December 3, 2013

Greetings NTN Members; December 3, 2013

Don’t forget the Snow Ball this Friday, December 6th! A great time will be had by all. Call Nikki if you need tickets. There are not many left!

Forestville: New snow (2”)yesterday and 2” more last night have freshened the trails considerably.
Last night the Noquemanon was groomed and tracks were set to the snowmobile trail at 19k. Due to the uneven grading and spring activity, coverage remains light and the trail uneven after the Bismark Bridge at 17k. We require 12-20 inches to level and cover these sections well and we are just not there yet. Expect conditions to significantly degrade after the Bismark Creek bridge and ski with caution. On the rest of the Noquemanon We still have some isolated bare spots in skating lanes and tracks that require attention. Overall the trail is holding up quite well given the two days of weather above 32 and sustained traffic; all of this on 10″ of compressed and worked snow.

Following last night’s grooming, 2” additional light snow fell. Groomers were out early to groom Bagwagi, Chiwagi , Migeeze and Mukwa. I have not spoken with the groomer but this additional snow should make for very nice skiing today.

We will be out again tonight so expect good skiing tomorrow as well. Not unlike lasagna, new snow is often better after the second day. It will be “worked” a little and a firm base will be in place.
Skiers are reminded of our need for volunteer groomers. With another few groomers we would have all trails groomed more often. Remember, it is fun, a chance to see the world, meet interesting people and get cold and wet. Please call Nikki at 906 235 6861 or email us at noquenetwork@gmail.com. Groomer orientation will take place December 7 at 1:00 P.M.
Saux Head: All trails were groomed and track before yesterday’s snow but no report yet today.
