Grooming Report December 20, 2017

December 20, 2017;  Grooming Report

Forestville Real Grooming Report: Groomer’s used the Ginzu equipment to clean up the skate lanes this morning.  The one day thaw did minimal damage to the snow so the skate lanes should be quite nice today.  Small dirt areas will be seen under the power lines and on the hill just west of the power lines (1k west of trail head).  Groomers attempted to reset the classic tracks but the old snow did not form well.  So the classic tracks are from several days ago but remain good (on the poor, fair, good, very good, excellent scale).  There is about 1/2” of new snow in the tracks and it was the groomer’s opinion that skiing that in will be the best plan.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    I never mind a thaw as long as new snow follows quickly.  This looks to be the case today.  A little snow is in the forecast for each of the next three days.

Saux Head: Tim rolled Saux Head last Thursday and reports good skate skiing but no classic tracks.  Track setting looks to be after we get enough new snow later this week.

Fit Strip: The Fit Strip located in the Marquette Park Cemetery is open for skiing.  It is a beautiful trail through mature mixed forest.  There are rolling hills on two loops with a total of 3k of very nice skiing right in the heart of Marquette.  Snow is a little thin so here are only classic tracks on part of the trail.  I would add, there are some people that actually walk on the ski trail.  I don’t understand why one would walk on a ski trail.  I do politely ask walkers to keep to the edge of the groomed trail.  I also encourage all users to put some money in the pay pipe so Tom doesn’t have to by all the gas himself.  Enjoy.

PS: If you have not renewed your Trail Builder membership, now is the time.  Please don’t make me track you down. “
