Grooming Report December 17, 2017

December 17, 2017;  Grooming Report

Forestville Real Grooming Report: This morning again groomers cleaned up the skate lanes on all trails inside the 17k mark.  Friday’s classic tracks on all trails inside 17k  remain in very (?) good shape.  Also on Friday, they did roll all the way to Co Rd 510 yesterday but watch out for the few habitually wet springs near (I think) 20k and 22k.  With the thin cover please use extreme caution on the steep down hills.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    Blue wax is clear evidence of a loving god.  I do trust you all did get out yesterday.  Temps in the high teens, no wind, young snow crystals and classic tracks, can it get better? There was a time I did struggle with the mental anguish of classic skiing. Skaters would fly by.  Now that they fly by regardless my technique so classic skiing just alters the closing speed. My anguish has disappeared.  All that remains in the joy I remember the time I strapped on my first pair of pine tared three pins.  I still remember, it was a blue wax day.  You know, it is like the first time you taste bacon or the first time you launch a slap shot at the goalie’s head; you don’t forget.  Expect more of the  same this morning.  This afternoon you may need violet but the snow will still be quite young.  Tomorrow afternoon I see some 30s in the forecast so hurry up or you will miss the first great blue wax skiing.

Saux Head: Tim rolled Saux Head Thursday and reports good skate skiing but no classic tracks.  Track setting looks to be after the first of next week.

PS: If you have not renewed your Trail Builder membership, now is the time.  Please don’t make me track you down. “
