Grooming January 6, 2018

January ,  6 2018;  Grooming Report

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Four more inches of new snow for a second (or maybe 3rd or even 4th) day.  So, we are going to see a second day of Bombi grooming!  Everything inside 17k will be groomed.  We will also groom to the Tourist park.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    Wow (again), is this cool!  I don’t recall so many days of lake effect in a row in some time.  I am reminded of the famous orator, Thomas Hart Benton.  He was wont to say, “I shall not shovel the walk until it stops snowing, sir”.  My father would then tell me Benton was using a figure of speech and make me go shovel the walk.  If we don’t shovel during these weather patterns we will have issues getting out of the house.  What a great thing.

Saux Head: Tim groomed yesterday and will again groom today.

Fit Strip: The Fit Strip was groomed Thursday but even more snow over night.  We are using the Fit Strip equipment at the Special Olympics today but will get it back to the Fit Strip after noon for more grooming.   The Fit Strip located in the Marquette Park Cemetery is open for skiing.  Parking is at the west end of the 800 block of Ridge Street.  You get to this two block long street by turning north off of Bluff St just east of Lincoln Ave.  It is a beautiful trail through mature mixed forest.  There are rolling hills on two loops with a total of 3k of very nice skiing right in the heart of Marquette.  Snow is a little thin so here are only classic tracks on part of the trail.  I would add, there are some people that actually walk on the ski trail.  I don’t understand why one would walk on a ski trail.  I do politely ask walkers to keep to the edge of the groomed trail.  I also encourage all users to put some money in the pay pipe so Tom doesn’t have to by all the gas himself.  Enjoy.

Big Bay Pathway: This snow event has our Big Bay crew assessing the situation.  We may now have enough snow to groom.  More information to follow soon.

Volunteer Opportunity!: We are really in need of help this Friday – Sunday from 1:30 – 4:00.  Want to meet interesting people, solve world problems, earn fabulous prizes and see the world?  You too can volunteer as a host at the Forestville Trail head.  Help is needed to help at the trail head from 10AM-1PM and 1PM-4PM on weekdays or weekends.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org or call 906.235.6861 for details.  (editor’s note; our fact checking has indicated some of the above promises related to world problems, prizes and seeing the world may have been exaggerated).
