Grooming February 9, 2018

February 9, 2018;

Thank you Trail Builders: Today’s report is brought to you by Vicki and Tom Asmus.    Vicki and Tom sponsor the 4k mark on the Noque’. Please ski by the 9k mark but more importantly, thank Marquette Maple for their support of the trails we know and love.

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Andy is out cleaning the skate lanes with the Ginzu to 17k on Animoosh and the Noque’ as well as Chiwaji hill by pass, Muckwa, Migizi and Gookookoo.

Special note to skiers:  Skiers are reminded we have rental equipment at the trail head. Adult and youth   classic and skate ski equipment as well as snow shoes can be rented daily from 10-4.

Saux Head: Tim groomed all trails Friday and set classic tracks.   Saux Head trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing. The trails are spectacular with great hills as well as rolling terrain.  The views are beautiful and overlook Superior and Saux Head.  Today and the weekend look to be great days for Saux Head.  If you have not skied them you don’t know what you are missing.  Please go today, tomorrow or Sunday. The trail head is located 15 miles west of Marquette just off Co Rd 550; follow the signs.

Fit Strip: Trails are groomed as time permits.

Big Bay Pathway: Trails are groomed as time permits.

Big Bay trails are groomed for classic skiing.  Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    Low traffic, cold snow and sunny skies will greet the smart ones. When on the trails I am always happy to see the smiling faces of the fast skiers coming towards me (because that means they won’t pass me from behind and show everyone how slow I ski). One of those skiers, no less a personage than Tom M offered the following commentary yesterday. “John, Just wanted to let you know that the ski trails are in really great shape. I want to say about the best they have been in so far this season. I skied up to 510 and the ‘wagis, and they are in fantastic shape!! Tracks are firm and the skate deck is really nice. There is some great skiing to be had right now on those trails.

See you on the trails,”
