Grooming February 3, 2018

February 3, 2018;

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Dusting of fresh snow this morning. Ken is going out to 17k on Noque and will groom out the Pines Loop. Track is still looking good so we will not re-set. Bob will groom out Animoosh and Bagwaji along with the connector trails.

Sunday Grooming Plan:

Doug is planning to take a Bombi run up to 510 early Sunday morning and Bob will groom and reset track on the rest of the trails. John C will be coming into do a run to the Log Yard. So Sunday is looking like a full groom with fresh snow. Will send an update tomorrow in the early am.

Special note to skiers:  Nighttime skiing is brighter at the Forestville Trail Head now that the stadium and campground loop have lighting. Thanks to the Exchange Club, Rotary West and Kiwanis, we installed several new light fixtures. The lighted area is perfect for practicing your technique or to bring those new to skiing. The loop is groomed for classical and skate skiing. The lodge is open until ten pm when it locks automatically.

Saux Head: Tim is groomed all trails Friday and set classic tracks. Saux Head trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing. The trails are spectacular with great hills as well as rolling terrain.  The views are beautiful and overlook Superior and Saux Head.  Today and the weekend look to be great days for Saux Head.  If you have not skied them you don’t know what you are missing.  Please go today, tomorrow or Sunday. The trail head is located 15 miles west of Marquette just off Co Rd 550; follow the signs.

Fit Strip: Groomed Sunday

Big Bay Pathway: Saturday 1/27/18.    All trails are groomed. Meditation and Hidden Grin are in great shape.  Bear Mountain is groomed open for skiing.  It is rough in spots.

Big Bay trails are groomed for classic skiing.  Trails are just off Co Rd 550 in Big Bay.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:   Check out the picture Tom sent.  Setting first tracks on such a day is special.  When the corduroy is so perfect it can be dizzying.  I can’t help but feel guilty but someone has to do it. Today looks to be another spectacular day on the trails.  Light air will belie the single digit temperatures.  And then snow will begin to fall as if in a shaken snow globe.  The stuff on my Dumb-stuff-I-gota-do list may get on tomorrow’s list.  I should add, tomorrow’s Bombi tracks to 510 will be calling too.
