December 31, 2017;  Grooming Report

Volunteer Opportunity!: Want to meet interesting people, solve world problems, earn fabulous prizes and see the world?  You too can volunteer as a host at the Forestville Trail head.  Help is needed to help at the trail head from 10AM-1PM and 1PM-4PM on weekdays or weekends.  Please visit www.noquetrails.org or call 906.235.6861 for details.  (editor’s note; our fact checking has indicated some of the above promises related to world problems, prizes and seeing the world may have been exaggerated).

Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Groomers are out in force opening up trails from yesterday’s significant snow event.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    I expect most of you were banking on yesterday’s event to be called the St. Egwin of Evesham Day Storm.  In most circles I expect St. Egwin of Evesham is on everyone’s lips.  But for a large contingent of Marquette area baby boomers, this will be remembered as the Dan H storm.  He inspired a generation of people half his age and showed how one can be young for a life time.  RIP.

Saux Head: Tim groomed rolled yesterday and will set track today but not until afternoon as he is tied up Sunday mornings

Fit Strip: The Fit Strip located in the Marquette Park Cemetery is open for skiing.  It is a beautiful trail through mature mixed forest.  There are rolling hills on two loops with a total of 3k of very nice skiing right in the heart of Marquette.  Snow is a little thin so here are only classic tracks on part of the trail.  I would add, there are some people that actually walk on the ski trail.  I don’t understand why one would walk on a ski trail.  I do politely ask walkers to keep to the edge of the groomed trail.  I also encourage all users to put some money in the pay pipe so Tom doesn’t have to by all the gas himself.  Enjoy.

Big Bay Pathway: This snow event has our Big Bay crew assessing the situation.  We may now have enough snow to groom.  More information to follow soon.
