Grooming December 21, 2017

December 21, 2017;  Grooming Report

Forestville Real Grooming Report: Groomers are out this morning on all skate lanes inside the 17k mark.  It is snowing at Forestville at 8:00 but only an inch of new snow is on the ground.  Groomers are attempting to reset the classic track but some areas lack sufficient new snow for track setting.

Way Too Long Grooming Report:    This new thin layer will help bring back young snow crystals for grip wax even if we are still in old tracks.  The skate lanes will also benefit greatly from the thin layer of new snow as the Ginzu teeth will blend the old and new snow.  So, even though we are on a very thin base, I predict skiing will be good to very good.  Again, watch out for the down hills and under the power lines.

Saux Head: Tim rolled Saux Head last week but no classic tracks.  Track setting looks to be after we get enough new snow hopefully later this week.

Fit Strip: The Fit Strip located in the Marquette Park Cemetery is open for skiing.  It is a beautiful trail through mature mixed forest.  There are rolling hills on two loops with a total of 3k of very nice skiing right in the heart of Marquette.  Snow is a little thin so here are only classic tracks on part of the trail.  I would add, there are some people that actually walk on the ski trail.  I don’t understand why one would walk on a ski trail.  I do politely ask walkers to keep to the edge of the groomed trail.  I also encourage all users to put some money in the pay pipe so Tom doesn’t have to by all the gas himself.  Enjoy.

PS: If you have not renewed your Trail Builder membership, now is the time.  Please don’t make me track you down. “
