Too Long Grooming Report:   Bombi grooming after a thaw is like magic.  Typically skiing after a serious thaw is brutal with skiers getting white toe knuckles from the futile attempt to grip the snow through your boots and skis.  The power tilling the result will be spectacular; fast, smooth and esthetically pleasing with a ribbon of corduroy and laser cut classic tracks.  Even if you don’t plan to ski, just go and look at the trail (but you had better bring your skis because you will change your mind and ski today.

Too Loong to Read Report: I am writing in my favorite hair shirt today. Yesterday’s first draft included the disclaimer, “No dogs were harmed during the writing of this grooming report.”  As it turns out, QC had to pull it.  Apparently some yorkie was despondent following what he felt to be dismissive treatment of his breed.  I do apologize to short legged dogs everywhere.

Saux Head: Tim is grooming all trails today but following the thaw I expect it will be difficult to set a classic track.

Fit Strip: Trails will be icy following the thaw.

Big Bay Pathway:  Boe checked out the trails today and retrieved the wood drag from Keweenaw Corner and the the teeth for the blue drag from Bear Mountain .  The trail could not be groomed yesterday.  Maybe after the overnight snow it will be possible.  There are a few areas on Bear Mountain that are starting to deteriorate.  Boe is not sure if the trail will survive the warm weather next week.

South Snow Bike Trails: Trails were groomed yesterday and should be in good shape today.

North Trails:

As you can see, person decided he/she had to venture into the groomed trails without snowshoes in 48 degree temp sinking foot deep right before the freeze. The portion of Collinsville from the trail head to the power line is badly damaged and frozen. Upper Blue Heron has a 70 yard section detoured to the street. Lower Silver Lead is in good condition aside from the first 50 yards of damage.

If you see anyone leaving this kind of tracks, please read them this report.

Of course you can also post your own information on the FB page and you are encouraged to do so. Here is the link:
