2016 Grooming Dec 14

December 14, 2016; grooming report
Real Grooming Report: Yesterday Andy set classic tracks to 17k on the Noque’. All other trails inside 17k are roll packed. Expect good to very good skiing today.

Way Too Long Grooming Report: The six day forecast calls for highs in the low double digits. This cold snap will keep our thin snow cover young beyond its days. We will baby the snow until there is more of it. Andy kept the fossil fuel in the tank this morning as a result. Lake effect snow should arrive in the next few days and we can begin to talk about mid-season conditions.

I must now add, those that know me are aware I am what is termed “a bad dog” in the vernacular. I know there is a rolled up news paper (remember them?) somewhere with my name on it. I should have issued this report hours ago. I had cooked up this whole story about the rooster being too cold to wake me up this morning but then I feared you would get mad at the poor rooster. So, rest assured, I have donned my favorite hair shirt and will improve my performance in the future.

Trail Host Volunteers Needed: I expect you have enjoyed the company and service of our trail head hosts over the years. You too can be a host volunteer. It is fun and warm work. You get to play with fire, meet interesting people and perform a valuable service to the community. The ideal volunteer provides services for a 3 hour shift once a week M-F. Our trail head coordinator is JJ Farrington. Please stop and say hi. If you would like to help out, call JJ Farrington for details. 248-242-2723.
