Grooming Report 1.22.13

Greetings NTN Members,

Forestville: To cold to get out grooming last night. Skiing should be excellent . Day efforts have been directed to race prep.

Race Course Update: Last night we had a hearty crew of 18 guys and one lady (my wife!) out shoveling and hauling snow with equipment, for 2.5 hours in sub-zero temperatures. It was an impressive crew that did not want to stop, even though we felt the trail was very well covered! We added quite a bit of snow to our base, over the last 4km. We will be hauling snow to the finish area today. At the end of today, we should have excellent coverage from start to finish. There are predictions of some modest snow accumulations over the rest of the week, that could dress things up a bit. Trail is in good shape. The Race is still looking for volunteers on Friday night, Saturday day, and Sunday morning. Jon Mommaerts, Race Director

Note to skiers: Please remember, trails at Forestville are groomed by the Noquemanon Trail Network, a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. We receive no government funding what so ever. Your membership, day passes and contributions are our only funds for grooming. Please wear you pass proudly. If asked if you have a pass, please understand we are volunteers trying to pay the bills to have good skiing. Showing your pass is good advertising and encourages others to support our efforts.

South Trails Snow Bike Route: SBR is in great shape as the route was groomed yesterday.
Enjoy the -15° temps!

Saux Head: Rolled again Sunday (1-20) morning after receiving 3-4 inches Saturday night. Trail in very good shape. Will groom when sled is returned from work on the Noque race trail.

Big Bay Pathway: Good to have some snow. Work on meditation/ hidden grin is underway. Meditation is compacted, and I ran the drag as well. the snow is decent in most areas, a little scarce on the stretch past the barn. I will set tracks tonight on meditation. Also have half of hidden grin compacted and ran the drag as well, and hope to have that online wed/thurs as well. I ran the entire trail, and it looks good. Only one big maple came down across hidden grin, I will remove tonight. As usual, we need more snow for the ridgeline. Bear mountain loop to follow meditation, and hidden grin grooming. A special thanks to Clair Depue, our Scandic is running great, and is at the trail.
