Grooming Report
1/1/2012

This morning early all
trails from Forestville to 14k including all loops were groomed.  Tracks were set on all trails except
Animoosh.  Yesterday morning the Noque to
Co Rd 510 was groomed and track set. Problem areas remain under the hemlocks;
in the recently logged 100 yards just below the lower Mead gate near the 20k
mark; and in the swamp near the small bridge near 17k.  There is still too
little snow to groom the lower Noque to the tourist park.

It is snowing hard
right now and 6” or more are expected by tomorrow.  We will be grooming during the snow to keep
trails open.  We expect to make grooming
passes starting around noon and again near 5:00 PM.

Night Relays

 Start
in January

Blueberry Ridge: Full groom except
for Wildcat yesterday. Snow coverage is good overall, but light at lower
elevations, most notably near the Superior/Wildcat junction.

Valley Spur: Last night
trails A,C,D,W,Y are groomed for skate and classic and are in good condition.
Trail B is groomed for classic for now. Trails E,F,G and Z are groomed for
skate and Classic but are in a little rougher condition. Classic is recommended
for trails E,F,G and Z.

Saux Head: Groomed yesterday
but no classic tracks set yet.  We plan on setting track after the next
snow.  The inner loops and especially under the hemlocks is very thin but
all trails are skiable.  The very smooth ground surface makes for good
skiing with very little snow.

Fit Strip: Has been rolled, still not ready
for rock skies yet but great for snowshoes or snow bikes. Attention Snow
bikers! Fit Stripper Race on Sunday the first at 12:00 noon. Start from the pay
pipe. Informal, 5 lap, awards for 1st male and 1st female.

We would like to put a call out for some donated items for the bathroom.
Looking for curtains and larger curtains or office style barriers to put up a
couple changing rooms next to the restroom area.  Also looking for a radio
or magazines for fire side enjoyment.  Please call 235.6861 if you have
something you think might work.

Volunteer
Opportunities: It is that time of year again the MGHS Noquemanon Ski Marathon
is looking for volunteers.  Friday night Expo, Saturday race day and now
Sunday morning opportunities are available.  Call the office or return
email at
noquenetwork@gmail.com.

We are also looking for Trail Hosts at the pole barn during the week.
Shifts range from a couple hours to four.  Help sell day passes and keep
the fire cozy.
Thanks and Happy New Year.
