Grooming Report 12/25/2012

Forest ville: Merry Christmas. Great mid-season skiing continues. Since the major snow event last Thursday, high temperatures have been in the low twenties and lows in the low teens. This makes for continued “blue wax” skiing. Another 1/2’” of fluffy snow fell at Forestville overnight keeping the surface smooth. Last night we groomed the Noque’ to Co Cd. 510 including Animoosh. Also groomed was the Mead Hills by-pass. This new section of trail runs from just west of the first Bismarck bridge near 19k and parallels the Noque’ on the south avoiding the three major hills before re-joining the Noque just east of the second Bismarck bridge near Co. Rd. 510. Skiers will note a gate on the trail. It is un-locked and you may open to pass through and close behind you. Once adequate signs are posted we will keep the gate open. This section of trail is still rather soft. All other trails have set up nicely and pole plants will be fairly firm.
Skiers are reminded that grooming is being performed with the Ginzu as the base is still too thin to use the Bombi equipment. There is still some air in the snow and small race baskets occasionally punch through. Typically this is especially true on the outside pole plant for classic skiers. In an effort to combat this effect we have taken care to pack the outside of the trail prior to track setting and have shifted the track further from the edge. Valley Spur: The following was posted on the Valley Spur web site late on the 23rd: It snowed all day long at Valley Spur covering all the evergreens, putting the trails in great shape.
The classic skiers had a fantastic day with the fresh snow skied in to the existing classic tracks which we did not have to touch. We did go over the skate lanes on B, D, and W. Rob plans to re-do the skate lane on Y in the a.m.

The forecast is for close to another inch of snow tomorrow and 1-2″ on Christmas Day. Bring your digital camera. Lodge is open tomorrow and Christmas day.

A huge thanks to Larry T. for coming out and helping groom today.
