Statement on Water Situation

We believe fresh potable water is essential for the health of our members and visitors and the future growth of the Network.   Adequate water to drink and operate bathroom facilities is undeniably important. A water storage system that is professionally designed would ease the pressure on our well during peak activities.

A water well was drilled at the Forestville facility using all of the currently available technology in 2011. Unfortunately, after more than $14,000 of expense, the maximum flow achieved was 3 gallons per hour. We found early–on that the well would run dry after only small number of flushes forcing us to build outdoor privies and purchase bottled water. All of our trail users and visitors would benefit by a reliable source of fresh water.

One goal would to install a permanent 1000 gallon holding tank to provide water during peak times prior to the 2015-2016 winter season.   A bid from Kleiman Well Drilling, Inc was obtained and work can be completed in 6-8 weeks from the time the work is requested.  The estimate dated is $5643.00.

Another option will be to re-drill the well.  We are currently obtaining a bid for this option.

The Noquemanon Trail Network  plans to alleviate the water situation to the best of our abilities.  Thank you for your patience over the 2014-2015 season.
