Responsible pet ownership when our four legged friends join us on the NTN.

Marquette, MI–With the Nordic ski season upon us, the Noquemanon Skijor Club is reaching out to fellow dog owners who share the trails the Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN) provides. As advocates for dogs on trails, we seek to educate and ensure responsible pet ownership when our four legged friends join us on the NTN. While enjoying the NTN with a dog, we ask that all owners abide by the following rules and regulations to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for fellow dog walkers, and other trail users. A trail pass is required for all dogs on the trails. They

Grooming Report December 7, 2013

Greetings NTN Members; December 7, 2013 Congratulations to the Snow Ball organizers. Revelers were treated to a wonderful venue, delicious appetizers and dinner, excellent music and the word premier of the movie Cold Rolled. All trails were groomed Thursday night. Trails remain hard and fast today. There are classic tracks on the Noque but they are poorly shaped although some skiers reported classic skiing was good. We will be grooming the skate lanes this evening and will take another shot at building classic tracks. New snow is forecast for Sunday and Sunday night so maybe our snow dancing wasn’t so

Grooming Report December 6, 2013

Greetings NTN Members; December 6, 2013 Remember the Snow Ball tonight. If you don’t have tickets call Nikki. There may be a few left. Forestville: Groomers were out in force yesterday. The rain did alter the snow texture but not the volume. All trails are well covered. We made use of our new Gator side by side to pull a large heavy Ginzu 108. The Gator and Ginzu 108 were purchased for just such conditions. We were able to level and break up the surface. We groomed Anamoosh, Noque, Bagwagi, Chiwagi, Mukwa, Migeeze and Old Gookookoo with the Ginzu 108.

Grooming Report December 3, 2013

Greetings NTN Members; December 3, 2013 Don’t forget the Snow Ball this Friday, December 6th! A great time will be had by all. Call Nikki if you need tickets. There are not many left! Forestville: New snow (2”)yesterday and 2” more last night have freshened the trails considerably. Last night the Noquemanon was groomed and tracks were set to the snowmobile trail at 19k. Due to the uneven grading and spring activity, coverage remains light and the trail uneven after the Bismark Bridge at 17k. We require 12-20 inches to level and cover these sections well and we are just

Grooming Report December 3, 2013

Greetings NTN Members; December 3, 2013 Forestville: Another light dusting of snow this morning will help to keep the surface “new” but base is still very thin. With the exception of grass, sticks, occasional dirt and the infrequent rock, skiing is very good. I have only heard positive comments regarding ski conditions. A major snow event is forecast for today through Wednesday evening with over 8” expected. We will be grooming through the event so skiing will be good each day although it may be soft and the tracks may be filled in. On the up side, rocks and sticks

Grooming Report November 27, 2013

Greetings NTN Members Forestville: There was 3” to 4” new lake effect snow at the trail head this morning and snow squalls during the early morning groom. We rolled the Noque to 17k and turned around at the Bismarck bridge due to a large wind fall crossing the trail. As soon as we get a chain saw in the area we will continue to Co Rd. 510. Expect rough skiing after the first small bridge in the swamp. In fact, turning around at the first bridge is a good idea as much of the trail after the first bridge is

Grooming Report, November 26, 2013

Greetings NTN Members, Forestville:  All trails inside 14k were rolled Saturday  except Bagwagi and the hills on Chiwagi.  5” of dense cold snow packed down to a 3” base.  We pulled the 108 Ginzu behind the Gator on Sunday on the Noque to 14k + Mukwa.  We received several positive comments regarding enjoyable skiing Sunday.   We have kept off the trails until more snow to preserve the cover.  That snow looks like it is on the way.  We will be out grooming as soon as snow permits. Saux Head: Is scheduled to be rolled on Wednesday after the snow. Valley

Grooming Report November 23, 2013

Grooming Report November 23, 2013 General Comments: Skinny bike tires are giving way to fat bikes and skinny skis! We may actually be in ski season for good. The six day forecast is for cold and a chance of snow each day. I will give a more accurate report on amount of snow at the trails in tomorrow’s report. We will pack if snow volume warrants it. Packing today will be important to drive frost into the ground given the cold forecast. There is about 3” on the ground in Marquette near the lake but up the hills in Forestville,
