Winter Event

Definitely NOT a Grooming Report Being in the middle of the three months without any U.P. skiing, the 4th of July ice cream scooping event should not get in the way of anyone’s OD training skis.  Granted, there is a plethora of activities one can enjoy in July but none as thrilling and rewarding as scooping ice cream at the food fest. For the uninitiated, the Noquemanon Trails Network is the ice cream scooping charity group for each year’s 4th of July festival at Marquette’s Mattson Harbor Park.  Revelers can sample Jilbert’s delicious ice cream from noon to close at

Grooming March 29, 2016 Spring Logging is underway: As most of you know, we ski on trails in a commercial forest. Without forestry we have no skiing. So, hug a forester or logger (when they are not logging or foresting). Some trails will be affected. A map is posted at the trail head and ribbon will close off affected trails. PLEASE DO NOT CROSS RIBBONS! The loggers have a job to do and continued interruptions make their job far more difficult. Thanks.   Forestville: This morning we groomed the skate lanes on Animoosh and the Noque to 17k. Expect great spring

Grooming March 1, 2016

Grooming March 1, 2016 Forestville:  Yesterday we groomed and set tracks on Noque Animoosh to 17 and Chiwagi Bypass. We rolled all other trails. Beautiful condition. Light traffic. Today Carlson will groom and track Bagwaji Gookookoo and the Wagi hills.     Saux Head: All trails were groomed and track set the 21st. The classic tracks were re-set but are thin in many areas due the hard snow. There is a fair amount of debris on the Hemlock Trail, on the Race Loop and, also, down the Plunge. The trail is in fine shape for a fast ski.
