Grooming January 29, 2018

January 29, 2018;   Forestville Real Grooming Report:  There is 1” of new fluffy snow today. Kirby took the Gator out with the 108 Ginzu (wider and heavier than the normal 96” unit).  He cleaned up the skate lanes on the Noque, Animoosh and Chiwagi via the hill by-pass.  Classic tracks from the weekend are still in good shape. Saux Head: Tim groomed the skate lane on all trails yesterday and set classic tracks on the 5k race loop.   Saux Head trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing.  They are located 15 miles west of Marquette just off Co

January 28, 2018;   Race Day!  Congratulations Noquemanon Ski Marathon racers. Forestville Real Grooming Report:  All trails in the Noque’ system are closed for today’s Wild Side of the Noque.  Skiers are encouraged to try out some of the other trails in the area. See below; they are all spectacular. Saux Head: Tim groomed and set track Wednesday. Saux Head trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing.  They are located 15 miles west of Marquette just off Co Rd 550; follow the signs.  Trails are as spectacular as the views. January 26, 2018;  Grooming Report; Please read all of the report; there will be a test later in the week. Special Note to Skiers:  STAY OFF TRAILS UNTIL SATURDAY AFTERNOON:  The Noquemanon Ski Marathon  course looks to be very good this year.  This week’s heavy snow is frosting on the cake.  Friday night’s forecast calls for just below freezing so things will set up nicely.  However, the warm daytime temperatures forecast for Friday indicate the race grooming will take place Thursday night, not Friday night.  So skiers are asked to stay off all race trails beginning at 6:00 PM this

Special Note to Skiers:  Volunteers Wanted: Did you know it takes approximately 500 volunteers each year to hold the Noquemanon Ski Marathon weekend? Did you know that each year the most consistent skier feedback we receive from the skier survey is that the Noquemanon has the best on and off course volunteer service out of any race completed? Did you know that some of our 8 on course aid stations have been staffed by the same service groups for all 20 years of the Noque?

Grooming January 19, 2018

January, 19 2018;  Grooming Report Forestville Real Grooming Report:  Last night Andy groomed the skate lanes on everything between Forestville and the 17k mark. Way Too Long Grooming Report:    I had the great good fortune to ski from TP to 510 and back yesterday.  With the exception of the first 2k foot traffic, the entire trail was spectacular.  Day old Bombi grooming cleans up very well with the Ginzu. I went out via Bagwagi and returned on Chiwagi.  At noon I was stunned to see no skate tracks on Bagwagi.  So, I would like to be serious for a minute
