Grooming Report 12/29/2012

Forestville: Light snow overnight and today will make for an ideal cover to a hard groomed surface. It has been several days since any snow has fallen and the snow was beginning to show its age and grooming is leaving less of an ideal corduroy surface and some slight “balling”. This new ½” will ski in well today and grooming tonight will mix the surfaces for a good corduroy tomorrow. All trails were groomed last night or early this morning and skiing will be excellent again. TRAIL – First Priority Noque to 14k 12/28 8 P.M. Lower Animoosh Groomed &

Forest ville: General Grooming Comments: Happy Boxing day. I trust everyone enjoyed the white corduroy Christmas. Groomers were out last night and skiing will be excellent again today. The base has settled into a hard surface for good pole plants and skate pushes. Cold temperatures have kept the “blue wax” conditions intact. Grooming Goals and Philosophy: The majority of grooming at Forestville is performed by volunteers and there is a critical shortage of volunteers. So, if you are interested, we have a grooming clinic tomorrow the 27th at the trailhead, 4:00 P.M. The Forestville system has over 40k or trails.

Grooming Report 12/25/2012

Forest ville: Merry Christmas. Great mid-season skiing continues. Since the major snow event last Thursday, high temperatures have been in the low twenties and lows in the low teens. This makes for continued “blue wax” skiing. Another 1/2’” of fluffy snow fell at Forestville overnight keeping the surface smooth. Last night we groomed the Noque’ to Co Cd. 510 including Animoosh. Also groomed was the Mead Hills by-pass. This new section of trail runs from just west of the first Bismarck bridge near 19k and parallels the Noque’ on the south avoiding the three major hills before re-joining the Noque

Forestville: What a holyday treat. Mid season skiing conditions. Another 2” of fluffy snow fell at Forestville yesterday on top of a wide smooth groomed surface. Skiing was hard to beat. Groomers were out in force again last night and all classic tracks were reset and skating lanes were hit groomed. Grooming is being performed with the Ginzu as the base is still too thin to use the Bombi equipment. There is still air in the snow and small race baskets occasionally punch through. Typically this is especially true on the outside pole plant for classic skiers. In an effort
