Grooming March 20, 2017

March 20, 2017; grooming report

Real Grooming Report Forestville:  Too much moisture in the snow to groom today. Trails should still be quite nice except for the potential bare spots; especially in open areas such as the power lines or ever green areas such as the hemlock groves near 16k. Please watch out for soft trails. If the base is too soft to support your skis, it is best to stop skiing to avoid icy ruts when things cool off tonight.

Saux Head:

Grooming is done as needed but at least weekly at Saux Head

Fit Strip Trails: Fit strip groomed and tracked as needed but at least weekly.

Big Bay Trails: Grooming is done weekly at Big Bay for Classic only.

Snow Bike Trails: Snow bike enthusiast are encouraged to visit the Face Book page dedicated to snow bike trails. Conditions vary from day to day and grooming is not a daily event. Each day bikers will comment on conditions and post pictures. https://www.facebook.com/NTN-Singletrack-147765491905204/?fref=ts

Way Too Long Grooming Report: Sorry about no report yesterday. The day got away from me. I expect one or the other regular readers were figuring something untoward had befallen the grooming report writer. I am reminded of a dairy farmer I knew in a previous life. He was under capitalized and milked 30 head in a barn with serious structural issues. Being a bachelor in his late 80s we all figured one day the cows would bellow well into the morning until someone came by. I have lost touch with him but like to think he sold out and uses “winter” as a verb as he SCUBAs in Aruba.
