2019 April 6, Grooming Report;    Well, we are well into silly season at the Grooming Report Writer’s Guild Hall.  Grooming it done for the season at all areas and we are now looking for pictures of spring skiing/biking/ goofing off and “you fill in the blank”.  One of the arms of NTN is Water Trails.  We are blessed with (at least) four seasons of outdoor activity.  Growing up I thought everyone had a season called “slush”.  As you can see from the picture, anchor ice kayak season is upon us so send in your pictures. Of course there is a

2019 April 5, Grooming Report;   Forestville:  Please note the sections of trails that are closed in the map below.  You may read about logging details at the bottom of this report.  As a result of the logging, grooming is being done at the west end of the system between Co Rd 510 and 12k on the Noque and the trail head building is closed for the season. Trails from the powerlines down to the log yard are unaffected by the logging and have good snow cover but will not be groomed.   Two inches of new snow fell Wednesday morning

2019 April 3, Grooming Report;   Noque’ near 510 and Saux Head:  Andy groomed from Co Rd 510 all the way to 12k on the Noque and Animoosh…and then 2” of snow fell.  I wish I were joking about the new snow part.  File this under “no good deed goes unpunished”.  Skiing will be good until the new snow goes through transformation and becomes the freeze end of the cycle. Too Long Grooming Report: Sorry about not having an April fool’s edition.  I have never been able to come up with a good enough story.  Ever since I was hooked

2019 March 31, Grooming Report;   The Forestville Trail Head is Open This last Weekend!  Expect hard trails everywhere today.  Crust skiing looks to be great again all day long. Forestville (near trail head):   We are not able to groom east of the logging (see map below) so skiing is either crust skiing or trail skiing in the Goldie Locks Zone (no Goldie Locks Zone today; trails will be rock hard all day long).  Skiers can access everything east of the powerlines all the way to the Tourist Park although I expect east of the 5k mark trails are very

Forestville (near trail head):   We are not able to groom east of the logging (see map below) so skiing is either crust skiing or trail skiing in the Goldie Locks Zone.  Skiers can access everything east of the powerlines all the way to the Tourist Park although I expect east of the 5k mark trails are very poor due to

2019 March 29, Grooming Report;   Grooming is now being done from the trail head at Co Rd 510 due to logging at the eastern end of the system.  The best skiing is near 510 anyway and the snow is quite deep near 510 so we will be skiing for some time.  See the map of affected areas. Forestville/Co Rd 510 Trails: No grooming today but skiing will be quite good regardless provided you pick the time and place. We are in freeze thaw cycle and trails will be rock hard this morning.  Sunny skies and light air will make

2019 March 26, Grooming Report;   Today’s report is brought to you by the kind people that will not give me guff for my poor graphic arts ability.  Ok, so I am working with some dull tools but one should still be able to cut a straight line.  Oh well, guilty as charged. Anyway, I took a shot at a graphic representation of the logging effect.  I used a jpg file with some dated trails and for that I must apologize.  However, late spring skiers understand the lay of the land and will fill in any necessary gaps.  Anyway, you
